Pediatric physical therapy is a specialized area of therapy that helps children improve their movement and physical abilities through playful and engaging activities. It is FUN! By integrating play-based approaches, we create enjoyable and motivating exercises that support the development of motor skills, coordination, balance, range of motion, and strength. This approach not only addresses physical challenges but also makes therapy enjoyable and accessible, fostering better engagement and progress in children.
We value a team approach and will work closely with all professionals involved in your child’s care. We are here to help you and your child navigate the best possible course of action to address your concerns through skilled evaluations and therapy, home programming, collaborative care, and advocacy for your child.

Physical therapy services in the Preschool Special Education system address the specific needs of children aged 3 to 5, focusing on enhancing their motor skills, functional abilities, and overall participation in daily activities.
Under the oversight of the New York State Department of Education, local school districts manage these Preschool Special Education services. New York State and the local counties fund this program, so there is no cost for families.
These therapy sessions are typically carried out at home, daycare, or school, but can also be facility based depending on the specific needs of the child.
As a parent you can request an evaluation through this system by contacting the Preschool Special Education department in your county (Monroe, Ontario).

Again, there is no cost to you for an evaluation to be conducted! Once this evaluation has been completed, at the CPSE (committee on preschool education) meeting the findings from the evaluation will be discussed and services can then be recommended as needed for the child.
If you prefer you can request to work with a specific agency for the therapy service at that time, or an agency will be assigned to your child. Note that if your child does not qualify for services through this program, but you still have concerns or would like to work on some specific motor abilities, you can still seek out care through our outpatient clinic.
